Laura’s Wellness Spa, along with our new partner Studio of Esthetics, was featured in the Redlands Daily Facts newspaper in February. Here is the write up:
After being approached by several online coupon companies that would take half of any profits, Laura Bischoff decided to offer her clients special deals on her own terms.
“It occurred to me that although there is a need for this type of service now more than ever, it needs to be fair for all who are participating, especially for small businesses,” said Bischoff, who owns Laura’s Wellness Spa in Redlands. “The bottom line is, it just needs to make sense, so in-house deals made the most sense for us. The response has been very positive.”
Laura’s Wellness Spa is also home to Studio of Aesthetics, owned by Holly Mercadante. Laura’s Wellness Spa focuses on custom facials, body treatments and yoga, while Studio of Esthetics is geared towards permanent makeup, Xtreme lash extensions, eco-friendly nail services, and facials. Together, the business owners are offering specials through a program called “Treasure Trove.”
“When brainstorming, I often think about the quote from Plato, ‘Necessity is the mother of invention,’ hence the name of our online deals,” Bischoff said. “It was important to us to focus the attention on the value of what a client can experience here at the spa and giving them the option to choose instead of limiting them to just one option. Our tagline is ‘A valuable discovery of hidden delights,’ since the treasures are only found on the Internet through links and our website.”
There are three Treasures available monthly, with no expiration date. They can be bought for personal use, as well as gifts for loved ones.
“As a courtesy, we utilize our newsletter to inform all when we have new treasures, and unlike most online deal companies we offer our Treasures to existing as well as new clients,” Bischoff said.
Both Bischoff and Mercadante understand how the economy has affected their patrons, and want them to continue to enjoy the same services as they have in the past.
“We try very hard to make our services affordable during this economy shift, and we have chosen to continue with the products we have always used rather than change to products that are less costly,” Mercadante said. “We have never cut corners where our clients are concerned and don’t intend to start now. People who come to us will receive the finest and most thorough service we can possibly give.”
Both Bischoff and Mercadante offer three Treasures at a time, with Bischoff’s focusing on facials, body treatments, and yoga and Mercadante on lashes, permanent makeup and nails. For example, Mercadante currently offers a Silver Treasure that is a full set of Tammy Taylor gel nails for $40, with a free fill two weeks later. Bischoff’s Amethyst Treasure offers $164 worth of services for $99, one complimentary yoga session, and 20 percent off most skincare and jewelry from Bischoff’s one-of-a-kind jewelry line, Laura’s Adornments.
“The reality is we all know someone that has been affected by layoffs or is living on a budget,” Bischoff said. “I talk about the concept of ‘paying it forward’ and this is another way to meet the needs of hard-working spa goers that need a mini-vacation.”
“Our goal is to encourage relaxation and renewal for the mind, body and spirit as well as amazing skincare treatments and beauty procedures,” Mercadante said. “As always, we look forward to giving our undivided attention to each person during their chosen service and feel blessed that our clients have chosen us to be a part of their ‘Time Out For Me’ day. Everyone needs to take time for themselves – it’s important, especially now. Laura and I look forward to helping our clients do just that.”
